Coronavirus (COVID-19)

On 19 March 2020, the Minister of Education, Peter Weir MLA, announced that the summer 2020 examination series would be cancelled to help fight the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and that grades would be based on a range of evidence and data, including prior attainment and centre estimated grades.

This unprecedented change to examinations has required us to adapt the way grades will be awarded. Since the announcement we have worked alongside other stakeholders to develop a range of options that would ensure all student attainment was fairly recognised and that could be carried out within the government guidelines for social distancing. These options were then presented to the Minister of Education, who then outlined the arrangements that CCEA was to introduce on 16 April 2020.

CCEA will continue to work and support our schools and colleges over the coming weeks and months.
