CCEA marks the completion of the process to receive student grades from schools and colleges and sets out the next stages of the Awarding process for Summer 2021.

Today, Friday 4 June 2021, CCEA has received over 230,000 grades from schools and colleges in Northern Ireland for all qualifications being awarded in summer 2021. This milestone marks the completion of the first three steps of CCEA’s five-step model announced by the Education Minister in March 2021.

CCEA Summer Awarding 2021 - The 5 Step Process

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teaching professionals involved for their hard work, commitment, and immense contribution to enable students across Northern Ireland to progress on to the next part of their journeys.

Throughout June, CCEA will work with schools to review centre evidence before issuing grades in August 2021. This year, AS, A level and Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) grades will be released slightly earlier than usual on Tuesday 10 August 2021, followed by GCSE, Occupational Studies, Vocational and Entry Level grades on Thursday 12 August 2021.

CCEA will publish guidance materials on our Post-Results Service for Heads of Centres and students/parents on Monday 7 June 2021. These materials will include guidance for students and parents about how to ask a school or college to review their grade(s) where appropriate.

Interim Chief Executive Margaret Farragher commented:

The expertise and professionalism of teachers has been essential to this year’s alternative awarding process. Their dedication and hard work have enabled us to reach the next step in our awarding plan, as we work together to ensure that students are rewarded with fair and valued grades and are able to progress this year.
